THE PROS AND CONS OF VAPING MARIJUANA

One modern way of ingesting marijuana is by Vaping it. Vaporization consists of heating dry marijuana to specific temperatures below the point of combustion in a vaporizer to produce a stream of vapor that is inhaled through a mouthpiece or bag. This article tried to answer the question: Is vaping weed better than smoking it? By covering the differences between vaping vs. smoking marijuana and their various pros and cons

Is vaping marijuana safer than smoking?

It should be noted that Smoking marijuana, or smoking anything for that matter, generates tar and other harmful by products. Even though just a few studies have been conducted on the effects of vaporizing marijuana specifically, top UK scientist recognisex the fact that vaping nicotine is generally at least 95% safer than smoking cigarettes explaining why, vaporization is the most-recommended method of administering medicinal marijuana.

Vaping pros

The most obvious advantage of vaping over smoking is for health reasons , but however,  vaping is accompanied  by other additional benefits one being its ability to allow the user  to taste more distinction between strains, and it gives the user  control over temperature and is generally more convenient and discreet.

  • Vaping produces a more pronounced flavor than smoking. It permits the user to taste the individual terpenes and cannabinoid profiles of each strain more distinctly, while smoking on other hand obliterates the taste and subtle nuances between strains.
  • Vaping permits Control over temperature: it should be noted that most cannabis vaporizers have adjustable heat settings that give the user control over the temperature throughout his/her session.
  • Vaping marijuana is more efficient as it allows the user to extract the cannabinoids from his/her dry herb slowly and effectively. The user can often get multiple sessions from a single pack and can also use Already vaped bud, or ABV to create edibles and tea, or even as an emergency smoke or vape. This is not the case with weed smoking as combusted weed turns to ash and is longer valuable or even a thing.
  • Vaping is safer than smoking:  current research has reported that vaping is better for user’s health and doesn’t require an open flame.
  • Vaporizers don’t require an external heat source such as matches, lighters, so the user will never have an incident where he/she is stranded with marijuana and no lighter.
  • Vaping is  Discreet: One of the most appealing benefits  of vaping marijuana is that it doesn’t produce as much of an odor, especially at lower temps coupled with the fact that , vaping smells a lot less than smoke, making it smart option for users  trying to fly high under the radar

The cons of Vaping

Vaping marijuana  has a major drawbacks in  that the user needs  to learn how to use his/her  device, keep it clean and make sure it is always charged or plugged in with desktop units. Another disadvantage of vaping marijuana is that it requires an initial investment in a vaporizer (and grinder) not leaving out the fact the effects of vaporizing marijuana can are somewhat different than what the user is used to with smoking.

  • Vaping typically requires a grinder: it should be noted that most vaporizers don’t function properly without a medium to fine grind thus calling for a good grinder, especially if the user is using a portable vape that runs on conduction heating.  This is because grinding marijuana increases surface area and allows all of the cannabinoids and terpenes to be extracted from the cannabis plant more efficiently.
  • A vape pen must be charged or plugged in: the user won’t need a lighter, but if his/her device isn’t charged or near a wall socket, then he/she is out of luck. The advantage with vape pens is that when they are fully charged can provide several sessions before needing a recharge.
  • The learning curve:it should be noted that  there is a significant learning curve with vaping marijuana unlike smoking  as it  takes experience to learn how to vape marijuana properly, getting the right grind and pack, learning to adjust the settings and how to inhale from the device.
Conclusion

The decision on whether vaping marijuana is “Better” than smoking is highly subjective, but it could very well be the best method for any user. For example, if the user is looking for a safer more discreet way to toke, or are a medicinal marijuana patient, then it probably is for him/her. But if he/she is only trying to get completely blazed, smoking is the cheapest way to make that happen.
